1. Make sure your staff understand:
a. What the team needs to achieve
b. What each individual’s role is in that (including yours)
c. That their suggestions for doing things a better way are welcome
2. When you ask for a favour:
a. Make sure you need it
b. Show your appreciation
3. When your team is performing well share the credit around
4. When your team is not performing well:
a. take responsibility for it
b. do something about it
5. Make the right decision without fear or favour
6. Implement the decision with empathy (Honesty without Empathy is Cruelty)
7. Where appropriate involve your others in the decision process
a. Share the problem
b. Listen to options
c. Define a solution
d. Get clear commitments (promises)
e. Be clear about your commitments
8. Keep your promises
9. Listen more than your talk
10. Be respectful of others and true to yourself
